Incredible Images: Photographer and Drone Operator
Dear Bruce,
I would like to apply for the Photographer and Drone Operator position advertised on TradeMe. After researching your company, I feel confident that I would be an excellent fit for this job and would add value to your team.
I am a self-taught photographer. I purchased my first DSLR five years ago and began to pursue photography seriously. In the last six months I have started my own website to showcase the images I have taken both recreationally and for business. Please look through the site for examples of my work, but for your convenience I have compiled at the bottom of the page some of my pictures that I think are most relevant to this job. They demonstrate my ability to photograph interiors, exteriors and landscapes in a high quality, professional manner. Although I have taken up photography relatively recently, my work is already at a high standard and I have a strong commitment to improving my skill level. I have spent much of my own time pushing myself to become better at my craft.
My main source of work in this field has been with Philbe Design (click here for their website). I have taken all the promotional photos that they have used in their social media campaign. I take real pleasure in presenting well-crafted, beautiful work in its best possible light. I also enjoy working with proud, passionate people to record their creations. In addition to this, I have a real interest in panoramic photography. I have taught myself how to create high resolution, fully interactive and immersive photos, a skill that could be of use within the real estate element of your business. The last item on this page is a 360 degree panorama I recently shot in Blockhouse Bay.
Despite never having flown a drone, I am familiar with how they operate and feel confident that this is something that I could pick up fairly quickly; I am used to operating complex, expensive equipment through my work as a sound engineer and camera operator. This area of work is something that really interests me and I would look forward to learning more about it.
Mainly I work as a qualified audio engineer, I graduated as the top academic student from MAINZ in 2010 and have worked full time in the field since then. This skill-set could add a lot of value to the video content that you are producing. I have my own small home studio with the ability to record voiceovers, edit and mix sound effects and music on ProTools. As part of my job on Te Puutake, a youth radio show, I also edited video content on Final Cut. Currently, I am a video and audio operator with Auckland Live Performing Arts Centre as well as being a casual camera operator for Big Picture. Big Picture operates video systems for major events all around the country. I have recently filmed at the Vodafone Music Awards, Oprah and Mumford and Sons. In all of my jobs in the audio and video sector, I have been consistently valued for my ability to work well in a team. Clients often praise my professional and approachable manner; the feedback I receive indicates my willingness to go above and beyond to solve problems and my colleagues value my hard working and amiable nature.
It would be great to discuss this further. I look forward to hearing from you, thank you for your time.
Regards,
Chris McCallum
